Day 1 Drama at the Georgia Capitol
No sooner than the Republican-led Georgia Legislature convened on Monday, Senate lawmakers introduced SB 1 to ruffle the feathers of the transgender and LGBTQ community.
The measure targets biological boys who now identify themselves as transgender and want to compete in girl's sports.
At the same time the bill was introduced, transgender activists rallied under the Dome to make their case for why the use of hormones and surgeries on minor children was safe.
"The attorney gave a more thorough answer, stating that while sex-change operations were not recommended “in most instances” before the age of 16, hormone and puberty blocker therapies were an accepted medical practices."
Huh?
While the echo in the hall was deafening and all but drowned out every word the activists were saying, a couple of them spoke to reporters and gave them a nuanced approach on why biological boys who think they are girls should be allowed to compete with biological girls.

What Else?
Outside of the transgender protest, The first day of the Georgia Legislative session was uneventful.
Lawmakers made good use of the mostly ceremonial Day 1 to lounge around with lobbyist, do a little media, and just shake hands.
In other words, just another typical day under the Gold Dome.
Oh, there was some swearing-in of lawmakers, the adoption of resolutions, and the outlining of priorities.

Good news.
The snow has all but melted away and normalcy appears to have retuned for Georgians.
